Pasta Guys is a neighborhood project started in 2012 by a group of South End parents who believe that basketball can be a tool to build community and character. We run our Sunday morning clinics for children from 3-10 years old with the focus on teamwork, enthusiasm, hard-work, basic hoop fundamentals, and most importantly, the joy of the “crab” defensive stance.
We’re an open program and all are welcome. Just show up at the gym on a Sunday morning during the season.
And we are grateful for your support in continuing to make Pasta Guys a force for good in our community. So, we collect any and all donations in exchange for a season of hoops. Every penny goes directly to scholarships for students at Cathedral High School, a philanthropy-based school for inner-city boys and girls. With a 100% graduation rate for the last 14 years, 60% of Cathedral students come from single parent homes and 88% qualify for free-and-reduced lunch (i.e. below $37,000 / year for a household of 3). Last year, we raised over $10,000. In 2019-20, we want to help more kids. Our ambitious goal for this season is to reach $20,000 and provide scholarships for 2 students. We hope you’ll help make it possible.
To donate, make checks payable to Cathedral High School and give them to Melanie Olinto any time during the season.
